Ms Harriet Whiley

Harriet Whiley completed a Bachelor of Medical Science in 2008 at Flinders University. She then continued at Flinders working as a research assistant, investigating molecular based techniques for the detection of Legionella spp within soil, before completing Honours in 2010. Her Honours research investigated the effect temporal water usage has on the colonisation of flexible shower tubing by opportunistic pathogens, Legionella spp and Mycobacterium avium complex, within a model potable warm water shower system. Harriet is currently a PhD candidate within the School of the Environment, Flinders University. Through collaboration with SA Water her current research is focused on investigating the possible colonisation of Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) and Legionella spp in South Australian stormwater reuse and potable water distribution systems.
