Dr Michele Akeroyd wins Women in Innovation and Technology SA Award


Dr Michele Akeroyd, Director of the Goyder Institute, was awarded the inaugural Women in Innovation and Technology SA Award (Environment) at an exciting ceremony last night.  The awards celebrated the achievements of several women who leading the State in innovation in secors including medical research, defence,community and sport, education and business.

Michele's award recognised her innovation in delivering expert science to government in format which can be used to inform policy and decision making.  Speficially, the award acknowledged Michele's role in collaborating with senior scientists from across South Australia to facilitate a cohesive response to the Murray  Darling Basin Plan, which resulted in an additional 450GL and $420M for South Australia.

Other award receipents included Dr Sheery Kothari (Medical Research), Leila Henderson (IT), Tania Jolley (Defence), Stephanie Kriewaldt (Education), and Karen Nelson-Field (Art, Community and Sport). 

The awards were sponsored  by NewsCorp, the Government of South Australia and Bendigo Bank.
