Associate Professor Qifeng Ye is the Principal Scientist and Program Leader of the Inland Waters and Catchment Ecology (IWCE) Program at SARDI Aquatic Sciences. She is a highly regarded aquatic ecologist with more than 30 years of experience in environmental and fisheries research across freshwater, estuarine, and marine ecosystems in Australia and internationally. Qifeng has extensive expertise in fish ecology, population dynamics, environmental water management, habitat restoration, and fisheries management. She has led and made significant contributions to numerous large-scale, multidisciplinary, and multi-institutional research programs, particularly within the Murray-Darling Basin, securing substantial competitive funding from State and Commonwealth government agencies and other funding bodies. Her research has been instrumental in improving understanding of the habitat and environmental water requirements of native fish species and the ecological impacts of river regulation, particularly within the River Murray, Coorong, Lower Lakes, and Murray Mouth region. She has authored more than 130 scientific publications and has successfully supervised numerous PhD and Honours students. In addition to her research leadership, Qifeng is a trusted advisor on fisheries and environmental water management, providing expert scientific advice to a range of state and national committees, advisory groups, and management forums.
