Dr Kate Holland is replacing Dr Tanya Doody on the Goyder Research Advisory Committee representing CSIRO.
Kate is a Principal Research Scientist who leads the Groundwater Management Group in the Water Security Program in CSIRO Environment. Kate leads CSIRO’s work on water security for the transition to a net zero future. CSIRO Environment delivers impact-driven science to address environmental challenges such as climate change, extreme events, resource sustainability, and legacy impacts. The Group includes ~40 multi-disciplinary groundwater scientists who work to develop innovative field, laboratory and modelling science to support safe and secure groundwater resources for communities, industries and the environment across Australia, South Asia and the Pacific.
Kate’s most recent research has focused on independent, evidence-based information to support policy-makers, communities, industry and regulators to make decisions about future energy resource development, including hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, groundwater and minerals.
Kate is passionate about using multi-disciplinary knowledge and improving communication between disciplines to deliver high impact science that bridges the science-policy divide. Kate has a PhD in earth sciences and a Bachelor of Science. She is a fellow of the Peter Cullen Trust (2018), SA Chapter of the International Association of Hydrogeologists, SA Chapter of the Hydrogen Society, and director of the Adelaide University Boat Club Board.
