Basin Plan Review discussion with MDBA team

The CLLMM Research Centre will soon host a regional discussion with senior leaders from the Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) as part of the 2026 Basin Plan Review consultation process. The MDBA released a Discussion Paper in February as the first step in the formal review of the Basin Plan, outlining its early thinking on key issues and opportunities for the Basin’s future management. Following its release, stakeholders will have a 12‑week window (5th Feb to 1 May 2026) to provide formal submissions.

As part of this consultation period, the MDBA’s Executive Director of Science and Knowledge, Scott Ashby, along with other senior MDBA staff, will visit the region to meet with community members, researchers, and local organisations. The session will provide an opportunity to hear directly from the MDBA team, ask questions, and explore how the Review may shape future Basin Plan recommendations. The Authority will use feedback gathered during this period to inform its final Review Report, which will be delivered to the Minister in late 2026 and will outline proposed changes or opportunities for the Basin Plan.
