Dr Graham Green is the Water Science Unit Manager at the Department for Environment and Water. He has over 30 years of experience in engineering and environmental sciences, including 19 years advising the South Australian state government on climate change and water resources.
From 2017 to 2023 Graham was the Principal Advisor for Climate Science in the Department for Environment and Water, providing technical oversight and advice on climate change impacts, adaptation, and mitigation. He has had a senior role in some of Australia’s largest climate science projects and led the development and implementation of South Australia’s Climate Change Science and Knowledge Plan. He was until recently South Australia’s representative for the National Partnership for Climate Projections and the Steering Committee of the National Climate Systems Hub.
A specialist in environmental hydrology, Dr Green has previously held the roles of Research Manager at the Goyder Institute for Water Research and Principal Hydrogeologist at the Department for Environment and Water. His work has included computational modelling of climate change impacts on water resources throughout South Australia, research on surface water-groundwater interactions in the Great Artesian Basin, and extensive studies of fractured rock aquifer hydrogeology in the Mount Lofty Ranges.
