A big thank you to the 200 attendees who came along to Science in the Pub on 2nd February 2024 to learn more about The Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth: A journey through droughts and floods.
We had 3 fantastic presentations by Dr Nick Whiterod (Goyder Institute for Water Research), Assoc. Prof. Luke Mosley and Cassandra Urgl (both of the University of Adelaide). The talks ranged from a background of the Coorong and lower lakes pre- and post- the millennium drought and flood waters in 2022-23, exploring the story of changing salinity, soil quality and aquatic plant responses to changing environmental conditions.
We thank the audience for their support, engagement and participation through thoughtful and varied questions. We want to express our gratitude to Science in the Pub Adelaide for their hard work in hosting such a popular event, run entirely by dedicated volunteers.
This is just a small snapshot of some of the work being conducted by scientists, First Nations and communities within the Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth region. We hope to present at more scientific engagement events in SA, showcasing additional projects and findings.
