Ecohydrological Models for the Northern Eyre, Braemer and Stuart Shelf Regions Webinar
Our Ecohydrological Conceptual Models for the Northern Eyre, Braemer and Stuart Shelf Regions project, led by Dr Luk Peeters from CSIRO, hosted an informative webinar showcasing the final results of the project which is funded by the South Australian Departments for Environment and Water, and Energy and Mining.
The project has tested a new approach to integrate and communicate information for environmental impact assessments of mines and large infrastructure development. The focus was on developments in the north of South Australia and how development can affect water related ecosystems. During the webinar Q&A session there was excellent discussion on extending the method to include terrestrial ecosystems and how to use this for stakeholder engagement, especially First Nations people. The contributions of Mark Keppel, Dougal Currie and John Reid were greatly appreciated. The discussion also focussed on how to ensure this approach becomes a tool that streamlines approvals process, rather than another additional piece of work to be undertaken and reviewed.
